Introduction to Thai Massage 

Thai massage, also called Nuad Boran, is a traditional healing practice from Thailand. It combines acupressure on energy pathways ("sen") with yoga-like stretches and deep tissue work. Therapists use their hands, elbows, and even feet to manipulate the body on a floor mat, improving flexibility, circulation, and promoting relaxationall without oils or lotions

Upon competition of this course you will be able to perform a 1.5- 2 hour Thai Massage. Helping clients improve their ROM, increase their energy flow, and relieve tension throughout their body

    Learn the Basics of Thai Massage

    This 30-hour, 6-day course is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of traditional Thai massage. Through a structured program combining theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice, students will gain a solid foundation in basic techniques, body mechanics, and the principles of Thai massage.

    Prerequisites:

    Basic understanding of anatomy. No previous Thai massage training is required. This class is ideal for professionals who are currently working as personal trainers, yoga instructors, and massage therapists as an add-on to their practice. As well as current Thai massage practitioners, who would like to deepen their practice. 

    Course Expectations and Outcome:

    100% attendance is required to pass the class.

    If you are unable to attend class for any reason, you will need to speak with the instructor about arranging a potential make-up day.

    Students will be expected to actively participate in class.Students should expect to be comfortable with working from the floor since the work will be performed on a mat on the floor. Not ideal for students who have issues with bending their knees or are unable to squat. The class is very physical and you use your whole body. However, with proper body mechanics and practice, most of this work will seem effortless.

    Preparation for Class: 

    Make sure you bring a pair of loose-fitted comfortable pants that you can easily move in and a comfortable top. (No jeans, pocket zippers, large buttons, or thick material. Leggings are ok, but very tight material is not recommended.) 

    Bring a pen or pencil for taking notes.
    Meet the instructor

    Tabitha Doty

    Tabitha is a licensed massage therapist, certified Thai massage practitioner, and certified personal trainer having graduated from the Cortiva Institute of Chicago in 2011 and AAPT of Boston in 2023. She was first introduced to Thai massage when she moved to Boston in 2018. Since then, she has completed over 250 hours of training in Thai massage. While her initial training began in Boston, she has also traveled to Thailand for additional training, once in 2022 and again in 2024 where she studied with multiple different instructors learning a wide range of styles and techniques.
